Happy Mid-Summer Everyone!! We are in the height of hot times in so many ways right now – and not just the jalapeno peppers that are growing in our gardens! It’s the height of the political season, the height of political insanity, and the height of our need to bring reason and rational thinking into our lives and to those we love.
Up here in Westport, Steve and I are doing everything we can to help strengthen our democracy. Along with some very dear friends up here, we’re organizing a big Democratic fundraiser for the Senate, and hope to have Senators Cory Booker and Al Franken speaking, along with our Senator Chris Murphy. The thinking is that no matter which way the election goes, we’ll need to control the Senate in order for the world to run smoothly.
On the musical front, our new CD, “Resilience” is “in the can,” as they say. It’s full of wonderful new tunes and I can’t wait for you all to hear it! We’re now in the process of the business side of things like shopping for labels and a getting a PR team (which is my very least favorite thing – right up there with getting a root-canal).
I find that listening to soulful music is about the most healing thing I can do these days – and it doesn’t have to be my own – I’m listening to Stevie Wonder, Bach, Bluegrass, Keith Jarrett, Fred Hersch, Kate McGarry – all uplifting artists whose music I could not live without!
We do have a concert coming up next week; “Rondi Charleston with Friends and Family” at the Levitt Pavilion in Westport, CT. It’s Sunday, August 14 at 7:00 pm www.levittpavilion.com. We’ll have some surprise guests (Emma Ruchefsky!) in addition to my full band of amazing musicians.
Hope to see you there!
In the meantime, remember that we can’t control everything in our lives, but we can cultivate the resiliency to prevail. Music is one of the invaluable tools we have to help us survive!
Love to you all.
